First to Now

Philippians 1:3–11

Summary

A warm, intimate thanksgiving for the church and confidence in God’s continuing work.

Lyrics

[VERSE 1 — WARM, INTIMATE, CONVERSATIONAL]

I thank my God each time I think of you;
I’m filled with joy each time I pray for you.
From first to now, we’ve shared God’s Word;
From now to last, He’ll hold us fast.

[CHORUS — GENTLY OPEN, REASSURING]

Don’t worry—you can rest assured;
He’s not finished changing you;
Until the day of Christ our Lord,
Trust Him—He will see you through.

[VERSE 2 — CLOSE, AFFECTIONATE]

You know I carry you in my heart;
Together we have shared His grace.
God knows how I long to see you;
With Christ Jesus’ love for you.

[CHORUS — GENTLY OPEN, REASSURING]

Don’t worry—you can rest assured;
He’s not finished changing you;
Until the day of Christ our Lord,
Trust Him—He will see you through.

[BRIDGE — TENDER, PRAYERFUL, NEVER GRAND]

And this is what I pray for you:
May your love grow more and more;
May He show you what matters most;
And keep you faithful till Christ’s day.
Bearing fruit through Jesus Christ,
Bringing praise and glory to our God.

[FINAL CHORUS — DEEP, SETTLED CONFIDENCE]

Don’t worry—you can rest assured;
He’s not finished changing you;
Until the day of Christ our Lord,
He’ll finish what He started in you.

[END — VERY SHORT SOLO PIANO RESOLUTION — NO SUNG OUTRO]
